【Berserk】A masterpiece that is uncompromising in capturing every single detail of the “Beast of Darkness” form! Packed with a versatile range of motion, and various posing options are made possible thanks to the wire embedded in the cape! Guts: Berserker Armor Ver. from the PLAMATEA series makes his debut!

I think the feeling of “wanting a cool figure” and the feeling of “wanting to build it with one's own hands” are similar yet slightly different. While there is certainly joy in picking up a completed product, the process of it gradually taking shape as you assemble it possesses a completely different charm. And “PLAMATEA Guts: Berserker Armor Ver.” is a product that seems to bring these two concepts into a head-on collision. The moment you open the box, you cannot help but feel, “Ah, this isn't going to end as just a simple plastic model.” What lies there is not a mere character, but the very aura of Guts himself, who has survived fierce battles in the world of Berserk. Moreover, this time he is in his “Beast of Darkness” form clad in the Berserker Armor. The tension radiating from his entire body carries such an overwhelming pressure that even in a static state, it feels as if he could spring into motion at any second. It gives the impression not so much that he is “waiting to be assembled,” but rather that he is “waiting for the moment to be unleashed.”
The experience of not just gazing at the completed form, but shaping the Berserker with your very own hands, must be a major appeal of this product. Berserk is a work where the intensity of battle and the emotions of the characters are depicted with overwhelming passion, and the existence of Guts at its center is equally intense. The process of building that Guts up piece by piece from the component level feels like something more than just progressing through tasks according to the instruction manual. As the arms gradually take shape, the sharp outlines of the armor appear, and it draws closer to the form holding the great sword, a sensation arises that you are “giving birth to it yourself” rather than “receiving a finished product.” It might be close to the feeling of continuously striking heavy iron in a blacksmith's forge, crafting a weapon little by little.
What is important in an action-oriented character plastic model is not just the appearance. The aspect of “how it looks when you move it” also becomes crucial. This Guts is equipped with a flexible range of motion that can replicate various poses from the series, and the benefits of this are greater than imagined. Simply putting him in a slight forward lean makes him look like he is at the exact moment of charging an enemy, and having him ready his great sword generates a sense of urgency as if he is about to unleash a blow right now. Even just a single way of standing changes the impression surprisingly. Once you start thinking, “Should I swing the sword up here?” or “No, perhaps his quiet appearance after battle would be good too,” you cannot stop. Before you know it, you find yourself adjusting the pose over and over again, getting the sensation that you are directing a scene rather than just displaying it.
And speaking of Guts, the presence of the “Dragon Slayer” cannot be left out. I think it is precisely because he wields a massive sword that exceeds his own height—which is already sufficiently anomalous in itself—that makes Guts who he is. In this product, not only is that gigantic sword firmly replicated, but his asymmetrical eyes are also expressed through pre-painted parts. By being thoroughly crafted down to the fine details, it gives the impression that the overall level of completion is raised even further. Just by adding a slight asymmetry or sharpness to the eyes, the aura of madness and obsession dwelling in his expression increases all at once. It is surprising how such a tiny part can alter the character's impression to this extent.
What I personally found interesting is the presence of the fabric cape with embedded wire. A normal, fixed cape keeps the appearance neat, but the movement stops. However, because it is made of fabric material, it can be shaped freely, and furthermore, because it contains wire, it can maintain the shape you envisioned. Fluttering it broadly toward the rear creates a sense of speed, and adjusting it to wrap around his body can also produce an eerie sense of intimidation. In addition, since a dedicated base and an articulated stand are included, it is possible to replicate compositions like leaping through the air or intense combat scenes. It transforms from a model that is just standing there into a work that captures a single scene. Looking at this product, I feel that the expression “placing a story down” fits better than the word “displaying.” The joy of completing the weight and intensity possessed by Guts, as well as the very world of Berserk itself with your own hands, is packed right here.
