【Mobile Police PATLABOR】 A second chance to get it! The sold-out latest version of AV-98 Ingram Unit 1 returns in a set with the Type 98 Special Command Vehicle! Don’t miss this incredibly valuable two-model kit set!

When looking at robot model kits, there are moments when you might wonder, “Isn’t having a strong and cool-looking machine enough?” But people familiar with the world of Mobile Police PATLABOR may see things a little differently. In this series, the story does not come alive with only the main mecha — it takes supporting members, equipment, and vehicles moving alongside it to truly create the feeling of an active scene. The “1/43 AV-98 Ingram Unit 1 + Type 98 Special Command Vehicle Set” feels exactly like a product that brings that complete world directly into your hands. The moment the command vehicle is placed beside Ingram, the display shifts from simply being a model into something that feels like a real operational site.
This version of Ingram arrives as the latest edition supervised by Yutaka Izubuchi. The first impression is that it feels less like an anime robot and more like an actual machine in operation. The sealing cover details placed throughout the body are particularly striking, adding realism to the mechanical feel of the joints. Combined with the internal articulation system, the result is a naturally balanced pose that somehow feels ready to move at any moment, even while standing still. Rather than relying on dramatic action, this model captures something very “Ingram-like” — the quiet sense of presence it gives off simply by standing there.
The appeal of this product goes far beyond simply admiring it. The leg hatches and cockpit hatch can be opened and closed without swapping parts, allowing you to enjoy its mechanical details more closely. Even the cockpit seat elevation mechanism has been recreated, and the kit includes a seated Noa Izumi figure that can be placed inside. This is where things become especially interesting. It’s not just about putting a character into the cockpit — depending on how you display it, the meaning of the scene changes entirely. Is this before deployment? During an operation? Or after returning from a mission? The moment someone is seated inside, it somehow stops feeling like a machine and starts to feel more like a trusted partner.
The included equipment is impressively generous as well. Alongside Ingram’s signature Revolver Cannon, the Stun Stick is included in both extended and retracted forms, making it easy to recreate different situations. On top of that, there are five interchangeable hand parts for both the left and right sides, greatly expanding posing possibilities. Something as simple as changing an arm angle or swapping a weapon dramatically alters the mood of the display. Before long, you may find yourself thinking, “Maybe I’ll try a standby pose next,” or “This time, I want it to feel like it’s in the middle of combat.” Somehow, not being able to settle on one final setup becomes part of the fun.
The other major highlight of this set is undoubtedly the Type 98 Special Command Vehicle. At first glance, it might seem overshadowed by Ingram because of its smaller size, but in reality it has an impressive presence of its own. The compact vehicle body has been recreated with careful attention to detail, beautifully capturing its unique functional design. Features like opening front hatches and side doors add even more charm. Better still, the set includes an Asuma Shinohara figure that can be seated inside, making it easy to recreate scenes of coordination between the vehicle and Ingram. Simply placing a support vehicle beside the main unit expands the feeling from “a cool fighting robot” into “an organized police force at work.”
Another detail that should not be overlooked is the inclusion of the same-scale guard robot, “BEL-1999 Caldia.” Supporting units like this may seem secondary at first glance, but the moment you add them to the display, the entire atmosphere changes. Adding just one extra figure in the background suddenly makes the scene feel richer and more alive, creating a sense of story that would never emerge from displaying Ingram alone. It feels less like arranging model kits and more like creating a miniature stage.
The building process is reassuringly approachable as well. Thanks to its snap-fit construction with color-separated molded parts, assembly can be completed without glue. In addition, markings are reproduced using water-slide decals, giving the finished model an impressive level of detail and realism. Rather than feeling like a challenge of technical skill, the process feels more like time spent enjoying the gradual satisfaction of watching the kit come together.
Looking at this set, what stands out is not only the strength of a giant robot but also the atmosphere of the people working around it. That feeling exists precisely because the package includes not only Ingram itself, but also the command vehicle, pilot figures, and guard robot. At first, you might think it’s simply something cool to display on a shelf — but before long, you may find yourself rearranging positions and imagining scenes, pulled in by its strangely compelling charm.
