【Horizon Forbidden West】A super giant body reaching a total length of about 390 mm! From the open-world game "Horizon Forbidden West", the large machine "Slaughterspine" is made into a 3D figure!

2026-09-01
It might lightly jump over the size you imagine when hearing “large plastic model”. Slaughterspine, a Spinosaurus-type large machine appearing in “Horizon Forbidden West”, has finally been made into a plastic model with MODEROID. What surprises first is its imposing scale with a total length of about 390 mm. Not just being large in dimension, from the head extending long and thin to the massive torso, and the long tail continuing to the rear, you can enjoy a silhouette as if bringing a giant machine straight out of the game's world. If displayed after completion, it seems it will emit a presence clearly different from surrounding models, and has an intensity that makes you want to gaze thoroughly thinking “Is this really a plastic model?”.
The appeal of Slaughterspine cannot be told by size alone. Complex armor covering the entire body and mechanical structures are reproduced with high density, resulting in a finish with so much information volume that you can discover new sculpting every time you shift your gaze. The unique design where a figure reminiscent of an organic skeleton and inorganic mechanical structures mingle is unique to this machine. Because it is a large model, details are easy to see, and just observing the head, torso, legs, back, and tail in order will likely not tire you easily. The more a person was focused on battle in the game and had no leeway to look at details, the more fun there seems to be in rediscovering “so this was how this part was structured” by placing it at hand as a 3D object.
With a giant body like this, you might think “Isn't it mostly a fixed model?”, but each joint is specified as articulated, and pull-out joints are adopted for the neck and tail. Therefore, the point is being able to swing the long neck and tail to create a figure with movement typical of Slaughterspine. Especially in models with dinosaur-type silhouettes, just changing the angles of the neck and tail greatly changes the overall impression. Whether to make a stance intimidating enemies from directly in front, or to express the moment twisting the body aiming at prey. It is a figure where you can play including the time thinking about posing. Furthermore, pre-assembled click joints are adopted for hip joints supporting the heavy main unit. Ingenuity is also incorporated into the structural aspect to realize a large model.
Of course, armaments symbolizing Slaughterspine are also solidly made into 3D figures. Reproducing shapes of equipment that impressed the dreadfulness during battle, such as the Plasma Spine Launchers on the back and the Spine Tail Lancer. Furthermore, Plasma Chargers provided on both legs are specified so you can choose between stowed state and deployed state. Not only creating a figure standing quietly, but you can even direct an atmosphere as if about to shift into battle readiness right now. For people who know the sense of tension “that attack is coming” when confronting it in the game, wouldn't you feel special fun even in the process of assembling armament parts?
Personally, what I feel deepens the way to play with this model by one level is the expression of part destruction. By removing parts from various locations on the machine, you can reproduce states where armor and equipment were lost through battle. While there are many plastic models displayed in a beautiful completed state, if it can express up to the “result of fighting”, the story is different. Displaying grandly in complete form is fine, and making it in a state as if going through a fierce battle to recall a scene in the game is also fine. Because the attachment and detachment of parts itself connects with the combat system of the work's world, it makes you feel meaning beyond a mere gimmick.
Once completing a model with a total length of about 390 mm, you surely want to display it coolly. That point is also considered, and a pedestal for display is included. Also, because water-slide decals are prepared, there is also the fun of raising the level of completion while adding fine markings. MODEROID Slaughterspine, incorporating giant silhouette, precise mecha sculpting, articulation mechanisms, characteristic armaments, deployment gimmicks, and even part destruction, can be said to have its appeal in the very experience of “assembling a large machine with your own hands”. For people overwhelmed by that giant body in “Horizon Forbidden West”, this time rather than through a screen, it is a figure where you can savor the dreadfulness of Slaughterspine while thoroughly gazing at its structure.
