[Jeep] Reproducing the small four-wheel-drive Jeep that recorded an astonishing production number of over 600,000 units!
The MM U.S. Jeep Willys MB,
which includes a driver in addition to rifles and machine guns,
has arrived!

You might think, ”Is it any different from a mere toy car?” but this Willys MB model is an existence like a ”microcosm of history” that goes beyond simple reproduction. In the great flow of the Second World War, the small four-wheel-drive vehicle that actually supported the Allied forces comes back to life in palm size. Produced in vast numbers by Ford and Willys and active in every situation on the battlefield, this vehicle functioned truly as their ”feet.” It is mysterious that when you assemble it while knowing that background, it appears not as just a model, but as an existence with a story.
Although the appearance is simple and unadorned, for some reason it catches the eye. The charm of this model lies in that ”functional beauty.” Because the design that pursued off-road performance to the limit is reflected in its appearance, it is finished in a somewhat persuasive form. That characteristic is firmly reproduced in the model as well, and the molding that makes you feel the lean structure and sturdiness increases in depth the more you look at it. It is one model that will especially appeal to those who are attracted to beauty created by practicality rather than glamor.
It should not be missed that it is carefully crafted down to the fine details, to the extent that you might unintentionally say, ”Are they going this far?” For example, you can choose to open or close the hood, and a water-cooled 4-cylinder engine is firmly reproduced inside. Moreover, because not just the unit itself but also the auxiliary equipment is represented in three dimensions, the satisfaction when you peek inside is different. Furthermore, you can feel the attention to detail in parts that are usually overlooked, such as the details of the instrument panel and the wrinkles on the seats, resulting in a finish that you will want to gaze at carefully after completion.
What is interesting about this kit is that it does not end with just the vehicle. Accessories such as a Thompson submachine gun, an M1 rifle, and an M1919 machine gun are included, and a driver figure is also set. Because of this, not only can you display it, but the joy of placing it while imagining ”what kind of situation it is in” is born. For example, whether it is a scene during movement or a rest between missions, it is interesting that the overall atmosphere changes greatly just by changing the arrangement a little.
This model is one of a series developed in 1/35 scale, and by combining it with other tanks and soldiers, the worldview expands further. You can enjoy it enough on its own, but by lining it up with models of the same scale, you can create a more realistic scene. Moreover, because it is designed based on coverage of the actual vehicle and abundant materials, the sense of unity and persuasiveness when lined up are different. There is also appeal as a collection, and the joy of thinking ”what shall I combine next?” will naturally be born.
The true value of this model lies not only in the completed figure, but also in the process of assembling it. As you assemble the parts one by one, you come to naturally understand the structure and function of the vehicle, and you can see ”why it is this shape.” In other words, the act of making it leads to learning. When completed, not only the satisfaction of the appearance but also the realization that ”I reproduced it with my own hands” remains firmly.
