[Tank] The Type 73 Light Truck, which served widely in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, is now a 1/35 scale model!
A masterpiece featuring 3 exclusive parts and a wide range of arrangement options including various marking decals!
The Type 73 Light Truck (equipped with a recoilless rifle) makes you want to ask, ”Did this compact vehicle really handle anti-tank missions?” While the Type 73 Light Truck, which served the JGSDF for many years, is known as a multi-purpose vehicle, the version equipped with the Type 60 106mm recoilless rifle was a truly reliable machine. Deployed to anti-tank platoons of infantry companies, its appearance performing missions by leveraging its mobility radiates a presence best described as ”sturdy and vigorous.” This kit features attractive content that allows you to recreate the tense appearance of the actual vehicle in 1/35 scale.
Looking at the kit’s composition, it’s immediately clear that this is not just a simple variation model. The rear gate, the base of the recoilless rifle, the extension plate above the front window, and even the left side mirror are carefully recreated with exclusive parts, capturing the specific characteristics of the anti-tank version. In particular, AFV CLUB parts are used for the recoilless rifle, showing no compromise in the sculpting of the armament. With 108 parts, it offers a satisfying build, yet fits into a finished size of approximately 120mm in length, 57mm in width, and 62mm in height, making it excellent for display. The process of meticulously finishing the details is the true thrill of this model.
The included marking decals are also not to be missed. They correspond to multiple vehicles, such as the 33rd Infantry Regiment (Camp Hisai), the 15th Infantry Regiment (Camp Zentsuji), the 11th Reconnaissance Unit (Camp Makomanai), and the Infantry Regiment (Camp Takigahara), allowing you to recreate the individuality of each region and unit. Furthermore, since individual digit decals for the license plates are provided, the freedom to set vehicle numbers beyond the provided examples is another attraction. The time spent thinking, ”Which unit specification should I choose?” turns into a moment of reflecting on history and background, transcending simple assembly work.
The Type 73 Light Truck is a vehicle that embodies the unique concept of mounting heavy firepower on a light chassis. This seemingly unbalanced combination actually creates a practical, combat-ready power. In this kit, that tense silhouette is beautifully expressed, and once completed, it will show its presence as the star of a small diorama. By applying painting and weathering, you can recreate the dust of a training ground or the atmosphere of an outdoor mission, further enhancing the reality. It is an excellent item not only for its perfection as a model but also as a material that stimulates the imagination.
This model is not just a kit for assembling a shape. By moving your hands while imagining the background and missions of the actual vehicle, model making transforms into a deeper experience. Please recreate with your own hands the weight of the anti-tank mission hidden behind the familiar name of ”Light Truck.” When finished, its presence standing on your desk will surely speak to you along with a certain sense of accomplishment.
