The famous Greif, used by the German ground forces and featuring the large letters of the winged monster from Greek mythology on its hull, is now a meticulously detailed model!

The Sd.Kfz. 250/3 Greif, a German radio command vehicle seen charging through swirling dust clouds. What makes this model special is that it goes beyond a simple reproduction of a military vehicle; it is deeply tied to the presence of General Rommel, the “Desert Fox.” Because he rode in it while making a name for himself in the North African campaign, the Greif became a symbol of the battlefield, sometimes depicted as a sign representing the general himself. When you imagine this vehicle, named after a monster from Greek mythology, racing across the battlefield, a grand story emerges just by holding the model.
The perfection of the model is impeccable; despite its 1/35 scale, the level of detail condensed into its 137mm total length is striking. The sense of the distinctive large frame antenna and the unique form composed of complex intersecting planes gradually emerging as you assemble it is the true joy of model making. The internal structure of the vehicle is also carefully designed, and the detailed craftsmanship around the driver's seat and radio equipment will thrill even those who aren't military enthusiasts.
The engine section, which is often omitted in many scale models, is firmly included in this Greif. It features a Maybach straight-six engine, whose presence is immediately apparent the moment you open the front of the vehicle. This design, which spares no effort even in hard-to-see areas, truly provides the sensation of “holding the actual machine in the palm of your hand.” The fun of adding details and applying paint to every corner is a unique charm of this model.
A major highlight is that the kit includes a figure of General Rommel himself along with three soldiers. Adding human figures to a mere vehicle model breathes real life into the scorching North African battlefield. Scenes of Rommel spreading out a map to plan a strategy, or the tense moments of soldiers exchanging information via radio—the kit offers ample room for development into a diorama, making it an excellent starting point for such projects.
The included decals are also worth noting; in addition to Rommel's personal “Greif,” they include “Adler” for the same vehicle type, as well as markings for the North African and European theaters. This significantly expands the freedom of the finish, allowing you to complete a one-of-a-kind unit depending on your painting ideas. Even with the same kit, the fact that the final expression varies completely based on the chosen specifications further deepens the enjoyment of model making.
