[Fighter aircraft] Special Decals Included for Customization to Your Liking! The de Havilland Mosquito, with 21 New Parts Added, is Here!

The “de Havilland Mosquito” possesses a unique appeal: a classic twin-engine aircraft that looks like something out of a war movie, yet its form is refined and even gives a futuristic impression. The model we introduce now is the latest plastic model kit, an evolution of the 1/72 scale Mosquito released with a new mold by Airfix in 2021, which garnered significant attention, by adding a further 21 new parts. This model, which holds value as historical documentation beyond a mere kit, allows you to choose and assemble three variations that were active from the late period of World War II to the early Cold War era: the B.XVI, B.35, and TT.35. This makes it possible to experience “building history,” as you can recreate the appearance of the same Mosquito airframe as it reflected different historical contexts and purposes.
First, the B.XVI model, with its pressurized cabin, was a type that enabled high-altitude precision bombing, whose form conveys functional beauty. The B.35 model, equipped with the Merlin 113/114 engine, can be called the culmination of the Mosquito bomber series, being its final production version. You can feel the evolution of aviation technology while assembling the powerful engine sculpt and the finely detailed parts arrangement. And we must not forget the TT.35 model, which was repurposed as a target tug after the war. This aircraft, operated until 1963, is an unusual presence that continued to undertake “support missions” different from combat, which makes it particularly interesting as a model. It is no exaggeration to say that the ability to give shape to three different histories with a single kit is a blissful time for modelers.
This kit comes with three types of high-quality decals manufactured by Cartograf, which is globally renowned, each offering different squadron colors and markings. You can enjoy the tense design of the aircraft from the No. 139 Squadron, flown by Squadron Leader Rupert G.W. in 1950, which hints at the dawn of the Cold War. The aircraft of the No. 3 Civilian Anti-Aircraft Co-operation Unit from 1955 features a distinctive paint scheme symbolizing its special role of supporting anti-aircraft training, showing a different look from a regular bomber. And the Mosquito of the No. 128 Squadron from 1944, which supported the frontline of the wartime RAF, allows you to recreate a form that truly graces a page of history. By not only assembling but also applying the decals while imagining the mission and background of each squadron, the world of modeling gains even greater depth.
This model holds value beyond a simple plastic model. The design, which precisely reproduces the role and historical context carried by each variation, combined with a satisfying parts composition, allows the builder to feel as if they are acting as a “witness to history”. The experience of working on it while paying homage to history and feeling its gravity upon completion is something rarely obtained from other models. This kit is sure to provide deep satisfaction to aviation fans, those interested in military history, and anyone who enjoys detailed crafting.
