I heard about that news! It was quite a topic in Japan...... But I don't really know much about GUNDAM SEED.
What! Well then, let's briefly review it in this article! It's quite big news...... Actually, it's a pivotal work in the Gundam series!
●What is MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED?
“MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED” is an anime work that uses MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM as its theme, produced by SUNRISE.
It was broadcasted from 2002 to 2003, and then in 2004, a direct sequel, “MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED DESTINY”, was produced.
When producing the anime GUNDAM SEED, the production team aimed to create a 'GUNDAM Series that could become a new standard for younger and newer generations', a 'First Gundam of the new century (21st century)', and a 'return to origins'. This intention led to a big hit, and it became a legendary anime that attracted attention not only from long-time Gundam fans but also from younger generations who didn't know about Gundam before.
I feel like even people I know who aren't so familiar with GUNDAM were watching it.
GUNDAM SEED, like the recently aired Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, is a work that put a lot of effort into its story structure. It's about two childhood friends who end up on opposing sides, and even though they don't want to fight each other, and they want to stop the war, they end up battling each other on the battlefield many times...... This kind of human drama is well incorporated, so I think even people who aren't familiar with GUNDAM could understand the story!
I see. Indeed, even I, who am not familiar with GUNDAM, enjoyed watching Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. That's the kind of work it is, huh.
Speaking of popular Gundam Model Kits (Gunpla) in GUNDAM SEED, it's definitely the GAT-X105 Strike that the protagonist, Kira Yamato, piloted!

I might have become aware of Gundam Model Kits (Gunpla) around this time, too. My friends were assembling quite a few Gunplas from GUNDAM SEED, and I was amazed at how they could do such detailed work!
Indeed. When the new movie is released in 2024, we might see many more Gunplas from GUNDAM SEED. We'll have to keep an eye out!
