●What is HARO?
HARO is a fictional robot that appears in the “Mobile Suit Gundam series”, and also serves as the mascot character of the Mobile Suit Gundam series.
It first appeared in the TV anime “Mobile Suit Gundam” broadcasted in 1979, and has often appeared in subsequent series as a pet of the protagonist or a robot they created (although the detailed settings differ). Depending on the work, it can speak, fly, and grow limbs, showing a fairly high degree of freedom.
There are various theories about the origin of the name (none of which are explicitly stated), but fans generally understand that it comes from the HAL (Hal) 9000 computer, an artificial intelligence that appeared in the movie “2001: A Space Odyssey”.
