Hello everyone. I'm Boss from Plastic Model Republic, and I've been thinking about trying the Gundam Model Kits (Gunpla), which are the synonym for Plastic Models, but I'm still lacking the courage.

Hello everyone. I'm Saori from Plastic Model Republic. I feel like you don't need courage to make Plastic Models.

You do need courage! And also time and nimble fingers!!
So before trying out the Gundam Model Kits (Gunpla), I'd like to start with this series, which is part of the same Gundam Series but a bit different.

What is the SD GUNDAM Series?
The SD GUNDAM Series (Super Deformed Gundam) refers to characters in the Gundam series, including mechas, pilots, and related personnel, who are depicted in a chibi-style with a large head and short limbs, as well as the collective name for the works they appear in.
Since its release in June 1985 as a vinyl figure in GASHAPON, the “SD (Super Deformed) Gundam” has been developed into various mediums such as plastic models, anime, films, and games, and is a long-lived work that has gained many fans.

I see. So the SD GUNDAM is a legitimate member of the Mobile Suit Gundam Series, and it's a series where characters from the series, including the GUNDAMs that have appeared, are depicted in a deformed manner.

It's not just the characters from the previous series that appear, it seems that there are characters that only appear in the SD GUNDAM Series! For now, I think it's good to remember it as a “Deformed Gundam Series”.
Basically pre-painted & no glue required!
Fewer parts and smaller size make it easy to assemble for beginners, but the more you get into it, the cooler it gets. It's a deep series!

I see, so it's a series where the basic model is pre-painted and doesn't need glue, but you can make it even cooler by using glue and adding more modifications!

That's right! With fewer parts, it seems to be a perfect series for people like Boss who want to try Gundam Model Kits (Gunpla), but want to start with a Gundam that's a bit easier...... How about starting with this SD GUNDAM Series, everyone who's interested in Gundam reading this!?

That's all for now! See you in the next article~! Bye for now!
